The Public Regulation Commission’s public hearing on whether to support early closure for coal, savings for ratepayers, and $40 million of worker and community transition funds will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 9, at the PERA Building, 1120 Paseo De Peralta, Santa Fe.
The PRC will take public comment regarding PNM’s abandonment and financing of the San Juan Generating Station in the Four Corners area. You’ll remember that the securitization tool that came out of the Energy Transition Act will allow the remaining investment in the plant to be refinanced in low-rate bonds that will save ratepayers money and finance another $40 million of severance, retraining and community reinvestment. More details can be found on Facebook.
We’ll do two briefings beforehand to walk you through the issues at hand in this case:
Albuquerque, December 4, 6pm, at the Albuquerque Sierra Club Office, 2215 Lead Ave. SE.
Santa Fe, December 5, 6pm, at the Santa Fe Main Library, 145 Washington Ave., Santa Fe.
Thanks for all your work to protect New Mexico’s climate.
