“Today’s climate report represents impressive progress on addressing New Mexico’s contribution to the global climate crisis.  With less than a year in office, Governor Lujan Grisham is leading the transition from coal to renewables, from polluting cars to clean ones, from outdated building codes to energy efficient ones.  The report acknowledges the need to diversify our state economy away from polluting oil and gas. And strong methane rules are a step toward reducing industry’s impact on climate and health while we make that transition,” said Camilla Feibelman, Director of the Sierra Club’s Rio Grande Chapter. “We are also glad to see the commitment to frequent updates and further progress. The coming legislative session will present key opportunities to pass community-solar legislation to expand access to clean, renewable energy and pass tax credits and infrastructure improvements for electric cars to reduce demand for oil.”
