Sierra Club Celebrates Governor’s Signing of Tax Package
“Governor Lujan Grisham signed a climate and families tax package today. New Mexicans can save money on clean cars, rooftop solar and efficient home heat pumps. Adding a credit for used electric vehicles and compensating households that purchased solar after the credit ran out in previous years make a real difference for lower- and middle-income people. The state climate credits can be paired with federal rebates that will drive faster uptake of these technologies so key to reducing our climate and air pollution. The package also supports large-scale renewables buildout, manufacturing, geothermal and storage. This is the type of urgent action that the climate crisis demands. We’re grateful to House and Senate leadership and the governor for bringing back a bigger and better package.”
